Here's a list of handy tips for those new to the Tuscan. Any extras are welcome.
- The battery connections are accessed from a special connection behind the front left wheel arch. A TVR leader can provide the lead to fit this plug, or you can try to improvise with appropriate leads and connectors when the battery goes flat.
- Contact your dealer if your battery goes flat and the jump leads are in the boot - they will be able to tell you how to get in.
- When you put the roof in the boot, cover it with something to avoid scratches.
- DO NOT rev the engine hard when cold, or cause it to labour (high load at low revs). Running in tips from the designer of the engine will follow.
- It's common for the pod to vibrate at high speed. Some people have managed to cure this by getting their wheels aligned and balanced correctly. Certain tyres appear to help too.
- Use velcro around the roof, roof catch and rear window to stop sqeaks.
- Use motorcycle visor cleaner or failing that, Mister Sheen window polish to keep rear window clear. The (plastic) window is extremely prone to scratches.
- Dont ignore EFI faults, they do generally point to a prob. See other thread for a list of Pod warnings.
- If the heater doesn't work when you get in the car, try adjusting the temperature up and down a bit - this can cause it to kick in.
- Evostick or Pattex contact adhesive for the bits that missed the glue during build.
- Autoglym vinyl cleaner for the parts that got too much glue during build.
- Windscreen wipers are Bosche 21/21S.
- Leven do nice shiny caps for the petrol, oil, water and power steering fluid to replace the original cheapo impossible-to-remove ones.
- You don't need to use the immobiliser key (the thing which you stick into the tiny hole in the dash bin, to the right of the steering wheel) unless your ignition key fob is broken. Just turn the key in the ignition to the on position, then press the button on the key fob and then start the car.
- There's a button next to the slot for the immobiliser key (to the right of the steering wheel), which will disable the external door lock buttons and the boot button! If your boot won't open, arm the alarm and disarm it again, then try the boot release button.
- The air vents on the pod only blow cold air, though it will get colder if you turn on the air-con.
- Learn to heel and toe if you haven't already, or at least make sure you blip the throttle before you change down a gear, or you will destabilise the car and possibly lock the rear wheels!
- Wrap the metal roof retaining pin in the boot with tape to prevent paint chipping off.
